An example-based approach to style translation for line drawings
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present an example-based system for translating line drawings into different styles. The system is given a training set of many different lines, each drawn by an artist in various styles, which is used to translate new lines made by a user into a particular desired style with a it K-nearest neighbor algorithm. This algorithm fits each input line as a linear combination of the several training lines in the same style which are most similar to it. The fit line can then be rendered in different styles because the training set contains versions of each training line in each style. Our example-based approach has a number of advantages over conventional parameteric approaches to translating style. It can handle styles which are difficult to describe parametrically, and its repertoire can be easily extended by the user at any time. Moreover, given appropriate representations, it can be generalized to modify the style of other kinds of graphics objects, such as the font of a letter or the movement style of an animated character. Learning style translation for the lines of a drawing
An important task of pattern recognition is identifying or synthesizing stylistic variations on a signal independently of its underlying content [Omohundro 1995; Hofstadter 1995; Tenenbaum and Freeman 2000; Brand and Hertzmann 2000; Rose et al. 1998]. For example, one may want to differentiate stylistic variations in handwriting from the underlying content, or letters. We study this problem for...
متن کاملThe Path: Dızgun Bawa, As an Example of Relation between Belief and Life Style
This article is an anthropological examination and analysis of a Dersim-based mythical story, focusing on its meaning and function in belief and the practice of daily life. Within this scope, the Dızgun Bawa myth, revolving around a central sacred figure, is broached and analyzed here as a text comprising a basis for the construction of collective discourses giving way to socially functional me...
متن کاملVisualising Ancient Architecture using Animated Line Drawings
We present a visualisation of an medieval palace as an application for a new rendering and animation tool which is capable of rendering images in the style of line drawings. In contrast to other systems, we are able to generate frameto-frame coherent line drawings in order to render an animation. The application of this presentation illustrates the capabilities of animated line drawings and mak...

متن کاملTransforming planar graph drawings while maintaining height
There are numerous styles of planar graph drawings, notably straight-line drawings, poly-line drawings, orthogonal graph drawings and visibility representations. In this note, we show that many of these drawings can be transformed from one style to another without changing the height of the drawing. We then give some applications of these transformations.
